Tony Ieluzzi has been performing in Canada, in the USA and in Italy for over 30 years. He started his singing career in Italy in the mid-60s and was introduced at the 1967 “San Remo Festival” as “Una Vove Nuova” (a new voice). That same year, he came to Toronto along with other Italian singers to perform for that city’s large Italian population. He never left. He joined family members in Hamilton, got married and settled there.
Throughout the years, he preformed as back up singer for famous Italian stars such as Claudio Villa, Albano, and Little Tony when they toured Canada. Ieluzzi was discovered by Ernesto Guarino a Neapolitan maestro. Guarino invited Ieluzzi to participate at the Naples Song Festival with a song written by Ieluzzi named “Questa Vita” (This Life). He made second place. Since then, Ieluzzi has been invited annually as a guest at the Naples Song Festival. He has performed alongside great Neapolitan singers such as Mario Merola.
His “simplicity that makes him a big star”. In a song of about three or four minutes Tony is able to tell you a story. His love for music is not only shown on stage but in his dedication to continue the success of Italian music in Canada. |
